Paid During Service |
PPSB’s Paid During Service Division was founded in 1910 in Elgin, Illinois as “The Mother’s Magazine Home Reading Club”. This was at a time when magazine subscriptions were sold door-to-door and paid for weekly…or “during the service” of the magazines.
In 1918, George E. Cook, Vice-President of David C. Cook Publishing purchased the company, along with The Mother’s Magazine, and moved the operation to New York City where it was organized under its new name…Periodical Publishers Service Bureau, Inc.
PPSB, Inc. was then purchased by HEARST Corporation in 1924 and remained in New York City until its move to Sandusky, Ohio in 1941.
